How It Works
gen
Having owned a bridal store myself as well as working with bridal creation and alterations for more than 30 years, I’m not afraid of any materials. My motto is “if it has been sewn together, it can be taken apart”. So whether your dress is silk, lace or any combination, I would be honored to help you with your alterations. If you would like additional information regarding my abilities, check out my website at www.acutefit.net.

Since I work out of my home, appointments are required. If you can give me a few options on your availability, we can start there. You will need to have your shoes, bra, body shaper, crinoline slip or anything else that may affect the fit. You will also want to have a stable weight (i.e., you are not on a diet, pregnant, weight training or trying to change your body shape in any way). If all of this is true in your case, we can get started. If your body weight or shape is changing in any way, we may want to wait until no closer than 6 weeks prior to your wedding to get started. Because the calendar fills in fast, it would be a good idea to book that appointment now.

The initial appointment generally takes 30 to 45 minutes. The turn around time for the alterations is usually two-three weeks unless there is major redesign work. In some cases it is even less, if your schedule is tighter than that. My goal is to have your gown completed no later than a month prior to your wedding, time allowing.

As for pricing, I can't give you an estimate until I see how the gown was made and what it looks like on you. I can tell you the last several brides have averaged $200-$300. There have been some as low as $50 and others into the $400’s depending on the extent of their alterations. To give you some perspective, for bridesmaids' gowns, generally hems are $15 per layer, taking sides in, $9-36, straps, $12-18 etc. Once you put the dress on, I can pin you and give you a closer estimate. If for some reason it is not what you budgeted for, you are not obligated.

Call me, email me or you can even set up your own appointment by clicking on the "Schedule Now" button at the top of the page. Either way, let's get started.
